Woman resuscitated on Hendrik Potgieter Road

A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was successfully resuscitated after she collapsed on Hendrik Potgieter Road.

On Monday afternoon 12 January the woman collapsed on Hendrik Potgieter close to Albert Street and was lying on the side of the road, said ER 24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene and found members of the public around the woman who had collapsed,” Bodasing said.

“She was unresponsive and paramedics had to initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation [CPR].”

After around 10 minutes of CPR the patient’s vital signs returned after which she was transported to Helen Joseph Hospital for further medical treatment.

The exact cause of her collapse remains unknown.
