Mrs Globe is Mooi

LITTLE FALLS – Riana Mooi of Little Falls crowned Mrs Globe 2015.

It was the first time in 18 years that the country sent a contestant to compete in the annual Mrs Globe pageant and South Africa left with the title. It’s all thanks to Riana Mooi of Little Falls who walked away with the crown at the pageant that was held in China.

Mooi who now has handed over her Mrs South Africa first princess title said she was overwhelmed with this achievement as it is not not only a personal one but also put the country on the international map. “I still wonder what set me apart from the other 49 beautiful women I competed against. The judges must had a difficult task in choosing the winner.”

Preparing and travelling to China left Mooi on a roller coaster of emotions. “I was anxious and excited at the same time. Anxious because it was the first time that I had to travel out of the country without my family and excited for competing on an international stage.”

Mooi highlights that the little time she had to prepare for the trip added to her anxiety. “I literally had five days to prepare, including sorting out visa and wardrobe.”

Easing up the burden of preparation was the support she had from her family and sponsors. “Michael Bezuidenhout made me the most beautiful gown within five days, Christiaan Muller of Benjamin of Adam Shoes blessed me with shoes for my swimwear and ball gown and Strands of Love Hair made sure that my hair is sorted,” Mooi said.

With this life-changing milestone Mooi has reached, she wants to be a change maker. “I want to impact lives positively, especially for the youth and women.” Education and HIV/Aids are some of the close topics to her heart and she plans to touch more lives positively during her reign as Mrs Globe 2015. To Mooi, being crowned Mrs Globe 2015 is more than just her beauty. “It’s about using beauty responsibly, showing the power of beauty and how to make an impact with your beauty.” With this said, she plans on working closely with her employer, Nedbank’s Corporate Social Investment Department. A lot of work is on the plate for Mooi who said she will also be working with the United Nations. In March she will also be flying to the United States of America (USA) where is she will be part of a panel of judges for the Mrs USA and Mrs Globe Classic pageants respectively.
