New ambulances to rescue Roodepoort

Gruesome accident scenes and other medical emergencies will be a little easier to cope with now that Roodepoorters have a new ambulance to rely on.

As of 1 January this year Quick Response Services (QRS) launched their second 24/7 ambulance as a company. This ambulance is dedicated to the greater Roodepoort area.

Owner Denver Ramnarain said that QRS has been operational on the West Rand for the past two years.

“We recognised a need for more emergency services in Roodepoort,” Ramnarain gave as explanation for the expansion.

To buy and equip a vehicle and finally to convert it into an ambulance costs around R800 000, Ramnarain said. Of the two ambulances and one response vehicle that QRS owns, one ambulance is stationed in Randfontein and the response vehicle and new ambulance will be stationed near the Strubens Valley head office, in Wilgeheuwel.

QRS has been in integral part of the Krugersdorp and Randfontein communities, having an ambulane to service the Krugersdorp, Ruimsig, Muldersdrift and Randfontein areas for the past couple of years.

Their aim is to assist with medical emergences, inter-hospital transfers and is available to be on medical standby at events. According to On Florida spokesperson Caleb Finn they have sponsored medical standby services at several of the community forum’s events previously.

“We wish them all of the best as they continue to assist in the saving of lives,” Finn said.

“We as a forum respect and value all emergency services, irrespective of the company they belong to, and welcome this new ambulance and its personnel to our community.”

The Roodepoort ambulance can be contacted on 0812 777 777.
