Complex robbery

Two units at Bergundy Hills were burgled earlier this week.

Two units at the Bergundy Hills Estate in Bergbron were burgled earlier this week.

The complex, which has remote access control and guards posted at the gate, did not know about the crime until the residents alerted security.

The units had their doors opened by a crowbar on Tuesday. The units had their televisions, surround sounds, jewellery, laptops and other valuables stolen.

Michelle Le Bon, who lives in one of the units that were burgled, said that it has only been two months since she moved to the complex and did not expect this to happen.

“I arrived at about 5.30 pm and realized that my both my neighbor and I were robbed. The security claims they did not see anything suspicious on the day. This complex was portrayed as safe to us and even when I asked about installing burglar bars, I was told there was no need.”

According to Le Bon, some residents saw a white Bantam bakkie riding in circles at the complex’ parking but security claim there was no white bakkie.

Plumari Group, the company that operates the complex has been in touch with both residents investigating how the burglary took place. However, they will only be able to give official comment next week when their offices open for the year.

The Florida Police could not be reached for comment.
