Gauteng organised crime Tactical Operational Management unit (TOMS) received information of highly armed robbers hiding at a townhouse in Honeydew. It is alleged that the suspects followed their victims from shopping malls and robbed them when they entered their houses. The suspects focused on taking expensive jewellery and electronic equipment.

When police confronted them at their townhouse, four firearms, flat screen TVs, jewellery, computers, cellphones and other electronic household equipment worth thousands of rands were recovered. The suspects were also in possession of several gloves and balaclavas which are suspected to be used during the commission of crimes. Three vehicles, suspected to be stolen (Volvo, Renualt Megane and Mini Cooper), were also recovered. The Volvo was hijacked during October 2014 in Brackendowns. According to the police’s Khensani Magoai, the suspects have been positively linked to a recent robbery in Edenvale that occurred on the day they were arrested and stolen property from the crime were recovered at the scene.

Further investigation into the activities of the suspects is still continuing, as it is suspected they are involved in serious crimes in the province. They were detained in Honeydew Police Station cells and appeared at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court while other cases against them are being centralised. They will be charged with possession of illegal firearms and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.
