The Davidsonville community, Metro police and Police officers from the City of Johannesburg said their final goodbyes on Saturdae, 20 December when their colleague and JMPD officer Marvin Hollander was laid to rest.

Hollander was killed in the line of duty on Monday when his unit and police officers responded to information about a hijacking that was in progress.

After the units reached Meadowlands, Soweto a shootout ensued and Hollander was killed. According to Metro Police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar, Hollander died on the scene. He said Hollander loved his job and was a very dedicated officer. “He played a vital role in apprehending many criminals including hijackers and robbers before he paid the ultimate price,” Minnaar said.

Hollander was an only child and started his school career at Roodepoort Primary school. He then attended Westbury high school before he matriculated at Die Adelaar High School in Lindhaven.

He started his career at JMPD as a law enforcement officer before he met his untimely death.
