Solidarity Helping Hand Christmas Party

Solidarity Helping Hand reach out to the community

Solidarity Helping Hand had a Christmas party at Kinglets and Queenies for underpriveledged children this weekend.

The charity organization invited children from Krugersdorp crèche, Stouters en Kabouters in Florida Glen, Sterretjie crèche in Witpoortjie and LaerskoolFlorida.

Mariette van de Werken from the organization said she wanted to make Christmas special for the children who might not have one.

“Children are the future and we have to spin the wheel in their favour. We are there for them during the year and today is their day,” said Van de Werken.

Local businesses such as Merchant West, Season to Season, Mandoline Insurance and Vleispot all ensured the party took place.

Father Christmas arrived at the party with flashing lights and sirens wailing courtesy of Roodepoort’s Netcare911.

The children were all smiles as they clutched the gifts and goodies they received from Father Christmas which included toys, toiletries and school stationary.

“There is no better joy than to see a smile on a child’s face and know that you made a difference in their life,” said Van de Werken.
