Final security tips for the festive season

Passionate security man Johan Frederik Lee has released the last of his security tip videos for the festive season.

In his latest videos, clips 6 and 7 of a 7-part series, Lee draws attention to alarm systems and CCTV cameras at home in light of residents going away on holiday.

“If you have an alarm and it’s not working, it will mean absolutely nothing for the security of your home,” he said in the video.

“Remember to also make sure your CCTV cameras are in good working condition and that your cameras have lots of memory to retain the recordings for the extent of your holiday.

“If you’re planning on investing in such cameras this December or in the new year, make sure to put them up in open, obvious areas where they will be clearly visible to criminals,” he said.

Reporting missing persons this December
“You do not need to wait 24 hours or 48 hours to report a person as missing to the police,” Lee said in one of the clips.

“Give all the ‘bio’ data — the information about that persons looks, where he or she was last seen and what the person was wearing — to the police as soon as possible.”

Visible house numbers are key to your safety
“One of the major issues to security companies’ response units, the police and emergency services remains the lack of visible house numbers,” Lee said.

“Not being able to locate your house could mean serious injury or death.”

He suggested that residents utilise an hour or two of their valuable vacation period to paint or repaint a large, visible house number on their boundary walls or driveways.
