Eskom chief executive Tshediso Matona yesterday painted a bleak picture of the coming months.

After profusely apologising for the inconvenience caused by unplanned load shedding Matona announced that there is a likelihood of 36 load shedding days until the end of March. Most of these days will occur in February.
Over and above the 36 high risk days on the grim calendar marked in red, there are 59 days marked in yellow as medium risk and only 18 in green low risk category.

Matona said this week will be very tight with almost everyday marked for load shedding.

He also denied there is a crisis at Eskom and said the current problem was that there were too many units down for unplanned maintenance.
