Armed robbery ends fatally

MULDERSDRIFT — A woman tragically lost her life after an armed robbery attack.

One Muldersdrift resident was fatally stabbed on 4 December, after armed robbers allegedly attacked their house.

Quick Response Services responded to the call between midnight and the early hours of 5 December where five robbers reportedly tied up a man and his wife before ransacking their home.

According to Denver Ramnarain, owner of the ambulance service, “Five intruders, of which three were armed, attacked the couple in their home. Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her injuries which included stab wounds and blunt forced trauma.”

The owner reportedly heard his dogs barking outside and was overpowered by the attackers. The man and his wife were separately tied up and kept apart while they were assaulting her. Ramnarain adds that after the robbery they were tied together until the man broke free and called for help. He survived with minor injuries.

Police have launched an investigation into the attack and are encouraging anyone with information regarding the attack or the suspects to come forward.
