Two arrested at roadblock

A man wanted in six criminal cases are behind bars.

A man wanted in connection with as many as six criminal cases has been arrested during a routine roadblock in Robertville last Thursday.

Florida Police and Metro Police were conducting a roadblock on Main Reef Road when they pulled over a red Golf with four occupants.

They searched the vehicle and found a small paper envelope containing a brown substance suspected to be mandrax. The occupants told the police the brown substance belonged to one of them and one of the occupants confirmed it was his.

After checking the suspect’s profile at the police station, it was found that he is wanted in a Langlaagte case for possession of drugs, in a Florida case for defeating the ends of justice, a Booysens case for theft of a motor vehicle, another Booysens case for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, a Hillbrow case for theft and another Langlaagte case for the use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. The suspect, aged 37 was detained for possession of drugs. In another incident at the same roadblock, a passenger in a taxi, aged 19, was arrested for possession of dagga.

Both suspects were detained at Roodepoort Police Station.
