To close off what they describe as a fantastic year members of the Financial Institutions Pensioners Society (Fips) held a year-end function in the form of a three-course lunch.

The lunch, held at Rock Cod in Featherbrooke Village, consisted of three delicious courses of tuna, lamb, vegetables and dessert. Fruit juice and other beverages kept the tongues lubricated as speeches were made to end off the year.

“Thank you to everyone that is attending this luncheon,” said chairperson Manna Fourie adding that, “the turnout today is quite amazing.”

Around 99 members attended the function.

“I also have to thank the Fips executive committee and especially Alice Ball for always assisting in the smooth operation of this society.”

“A special thanks also to those members that paid more than the asking price for today’s luncheon so that other, less fortunate members could also join us on this wonderful afternoon,” Fourie said.

Spice was added to the large lunch meeting by holding lucky draws and sharing jokes.

Fips offers various benefits and discounts to its members that are all pensioners that have retired from the banking industry. These benefits include free items, discounts and special services from Europ Assist, Avbob, Pensure, AA Assist, Bankmed, Heart2Care, MSC Starlight Cruises, Travel Adventures, Forever Resorts, Clarens Guesthouses, Bethlehem Guesthouse, Pinelake Marina, Uvongo and Kia Motors.

“We are always seeking to extend the benefits and discounts to our members by approaching more large corporates,” Ball told the record.
