Pitbulls attack lands woman in clinic

lindhaven woman mauled by two pitbulls

A Lindhaven resident was rushed to a local clinic earlier this week after being attacked by her neighbour’s Pitbulls.

Linda Ramatsiba was trying to open her gate when the incident occured.

“I had parked my car very close to my own gate and the dogs next-door were barking as usual. My neighbour was on her door step when her remote controlled gate opened and the dogs ran out of the yard. The dogs ran straight towards me as our gates are next to each other.”

Ramatsiba’s 18-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son witnessed the incident but struggled to open the gate from the inside.

“What hurts me the most is that my children had to witness me being attacked and there was nothing they could do to help me. Our gate slides manually but it was locked so they struggled with the keys,” she said.

Ramatsiba was rescued by neighbours who heard her cries of help and successfully got the dogs away from her after a struggle.

She was immediately rushed to a local clinic for medical attention for over 15 deep bite wounds on the thighs, arms, head and back which amounted to more than 70 stitches

Ramatsiba is also angry at the local police who did not respond to the incident immediately.

“My husband went on my behalf to open a case while I was being rushed to the clinic. I was losing blood and my life was in danger. They wanted me to personally go open a case. How can I go while I am in the clinic, Why can they not come to me?” asked Ramatsiba.

The Soweto school teacher said she is fortunate that the space between the gate and the car was limited because the dogs were fighting over her.

According to Ramatsiba, before the incident there had been no hostility between her and the neighbour.

The family will wait until Ramatsiba is out of the clinic before deciding whether to press charges against the neighbour

The Record could not reach the neighbour for comment and will investigate further.
