Gauteng West cricketers ready to take on the rest
Cricketers will battle it out in the Gauteng tournament.
The Gauteng West Regional cricket team is ready to do battle in the Gauteng regional tournament this weekend.
The U/13 team, coached by Jan Ackerman will face Gauteng South on Saturday and Gauteng North 2 on Sunday.
Ackerman said his team is well prepared and all players are ready for the weekend’s fixtures.
“We have prepared a lot even though some practice sessions have been rained out. Luckily some guys are playing school cricket, which is a benefit to us,” said Ackerman.
The West Rand team lost against Gauteng North 1 last weekend before Sunday’s match was cancelled due to rain, but Ackerman looks at the positives.
“The pitch was slow and damp, which made it hard for the players but the experience helped the team,” said Ackerman.
The matches will take place at St Stithians College in Randburg.
