Executives kick back with year end function- Carnival style

RUIMSIG — The Open Learning Group kickstart the festive season with carnival inspired year-end function.

The Open Learning Group (OLG) kicked back on 22 November to Samba the night away during its year end function in Ruimsig.

The Tres Jolie venue was blasted with vivacious red, white and blue colours to go with the carnival theme for the night. Members of the executive committee and HR structures loosened their ties and kicked off their heels to enjoy the camel rides.

During the night, employees within the company were also awarded and given recognition for the work they did during the year.

Cecile Doubell-Fourie, manager of Public Relations at OLG, said “We have a performance management system where individuals, managers and colleagues nominate each other and they get monthly votes. The votes are rounded up and awards go to people who really go the extra mile.”

The Open Learning Group has been operating in Weltevreden Park for 16 years, as a structure of companies in education solutions. With the supply of logistic and administrations function, they supply to tertiary institutions for their long distance learning students.

“We supply the students with their study materials, books, time-tables, etcetera – up until their graduation. We also have a division that hosts academic programmes for consumers or businesses,” added Doubell-Fourie.

During the year end function, awards were given to people that really went the extra mile in their work and towards helping their fellow colleagues.

Cecile concluded that the winners were given the opportunity to personally thank the people that had nominated them, giving the ceremony that extra personal touch.

The members were awarded on the night in different categories including awards for long-service, Rookie of the year, Rock of Gibraltar, The Exco award and Chairman’s award.
