Seven-year-old killed by biker

ROODEPOORT - Seven-year-old pedestrian dies after being accidentally knocked over by a motorcyclist.

A seven-year-old boy was killed on Sunday 16 November on Maropeng Road in Krugersdorp after he was hit by a motorcyclist.

According to Russel Mering of ER24, when their paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the body of the young patient lying on the side of the road. “Unfortunately the boy had already succumbed to his severe injuries.”

It is understood the motorcyclist was part of a group of bikers who were travelling from a breakfast run. The deceased was walking with a friend and they were both trying to cross the road.

“The biker told paramedics that he had driven around the bend and was unable to avoid colliding with the child, who had apparently run across

the road without noticing the oncoming vehicles,” said Mering.

The motorcyclist sustained moderate injuries after he had fallen off his motorbike. His motorbike lay a few metres away from

him.

Paramedics treated the man for his injuries and transported him to Krugersdorp Hospital for further treatment.
