Load shedding halted in the city

'Dark' weather leads to increased use of electrical lights, Etzinger said.

No load shedding is planned for the greater Johannesburg and specifically Roodepoort and Florida at the moment.

This according to Eskom spokesperson, Andrew Etzinger who said the power grid is currently stable.

“No new load shedding schedules are being released as there is no load shedding planned at the moment,” he told the record.

“Look, there is a higher demand for electricity when you consider the cold weather we are experiencing,” Etzinger said.

“It being particularly ‘dark’ weather, people are making use of more electrical lights as well as air conditioning and heaters.”

City Power is currently not load shedding, it is stated on the official website.

The load shedding schedule the record referred to previously was only valid from 1 November to 14 November.
