The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) relies heavily on the people who meet the requirements to donate to ensure that there is always adequate blood available in the country for patients who need transfusions.

The Westgate Donor Centre has seen a decline in the number of donors in recent months and this has had a huge impact

on the available blood stocks. As we approach the festive season, this will continue to drop and therefore the SANBS is sending out a plea to all those who are eligible to go to their Westgate Donor Centre, opposite Dis-Chem in Westgate Mall and donate blood.

Requirements for donors are that they must weigh at least 50kg, be between the ages of 16 and 65, are healthy, lead a sexually safe lifestyle and consider their blood safe for transfusion.

Call Westgate Donor Centre on 011 768 0283 or Lebo Seatlholo on 082 419 1164 or visit www.sanbs.org.za.

Your blood saves lives.
