The owner of a prominent tuck shop on Steinmann Road was attacked on Sunday morning (2 November).
Just after his wife left at around 8am to do grocery shopping, the man was attacked in the yard of his house. He reportedly sustained several stab wounds to the head and chest and allegedly was left for dead in the garage adjacent to the house.
A witness in a press statement says that an ambulance arrived on scene within minutes where after the man was taken to Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg for further medical care. She says he is currently in a stable condition.
According to Roodepoort Police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Khumalo a case of housebreaking has been opened. The suspect is still at large.
The family could not be reached for comment.
