New Creations makes it big

New Creations entered their first competition – Can Be Famous Competition – in 2012.

A Roodepoort band that started out in their church’s praise-and-worship group has moved up the ladder and is taking the music industry by storm.

New Creations was founded by three young West Rand men in 2011. The all-male band produces sounds ranging from hip-hop to gospel and jazz.

“In the beginning we performed anywhere and at any price as we were new and needed exposure,” says founding member Simon Tshukudu.

New Creations entered their first competition, Can Be Famous Competition in 2012 where they came second, winning R50 000 and a tour around the country with the Choose Cans company.

Although they don’t have an album out yet, their songs are played on some of the country’s hottest radio stations. Their current single, I Can Elevate is used by Choose Cans to promote the brand – it has been used for 808 Choose Cans adverts that have been aired on e.tv, Vuzu, SABC1 and Channel O.

The group also has performed at Johannesburg’s biggest clubs, stages and events.

Another highlight for the group was when they featured on e.tv’s Sunrise for an interview and live performance. The now six-piece band competed in SA’s Got Talent, made it through to the second round of the semifinals and now has to impress in the final round.

In the finals New Creations will battle it out with five other talented performers for the prize money of R250 000. “If we win the money, we will use it to grow the band,” says Tshukudu.

When asked how he fells on stage, guitarist Moeketsi Tapisi says it something he can not explain; a beautiful experience, especially when the audience is singing and clapping along.

“We recently received a standing ovation at the semifinals in the Soweto Theatre,” says Tapisi.

Check out these talented West Randers in the finals of SA’s Got Talent on e.tv on 7 November at 6:05pm.
