City Power-less

ROODEPOORT – Dark days lie ahead as loadshedding continues.

The loss of Majuba Power Station in Mpumalanga has caused a dire electricity shortage in Joburg. Roodepoort North, like most parts of the city, has also been affected. (see previous article)

Residents are urged to use electricity sparingly and also to unplug all appliances during the power outages in order to avoid severe power surges which can damage appliances as soon as power is reinstated. Businesses are encouraged to make back-up plans, especially those dealing in consumables.

As per the City Power load shedding schedule released on 1 November, the following Roodepoort North areas are set to be without power most of this week and weekend:

Block 2 – Honeydew Ext 5 – Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday: 6am to 10am.

Block 3 – Allen’s Nek, Amarosa, Constantia Kloof, Helderkruin, Honeydew, Kloofendal, Little Falls, Poortview, Radiokop, Roodepoort North, Ruimsig, Struben’s Valley, Weltevreden Park, Wilgeheuwel – Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 10am to 2pm.

Block 7 – Bergbron, Florida North, Quellerina – Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 6pm to 10pm.

Block 8 – Fairland – Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday: 6pm to 10pm.

These planned outages are not set in stone and are subject to change at any time.
