Criminal plays hide and go seek

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Suspect loses a game of hide and seek after Beagle Watch discovers him hiding away in a closet.

Beagle Watch security made a shocking discovery when they found a criminal hiding in a closet on 20 October.

Spokesperson from the security company Anne Wood explained that the company received an alarm activation from a client in Besembos Avenue at about midday.

“While conducting his search of the premises, the response officer noticed that the front door had been partially forced open with a screwdriver, but not completely (access had not been gained through the door). Further investigation revealed to him that tiles had been physically removed from the rooftop of the home.” She added that the officer immediately radioed for backup units as he thought that the suspects were either already inside or hiding on the roof.

“Task force officers arrived on scene a couple of seconds later and the client gave them the go ahead to enter his property and do a thorough search of the house.”

She added that as the officers were moving through the house, one of them opened a closet and discovered a single suspect, was hiding among clothes and other items.

“The suspect was arrested on the spot and taken to Honeydew Police Station for further questioning.”

Honeydew police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs confirmed that the suspect arrived at the station but was unable to provide more details.
