Sexual offender (31) to go on trial in February 2015

The alleged sexual offender will appear in court on 16 February 2015.

The trial of the alleged sexual offender that is accused of exposing himself to primary school girls in Krugersdorp will continue in February next year.

The alleged sexual offender appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on Monday 27 October and his trial was set for next year. The suspect (31) was taken into custody in April 2013 after allegedly offering a 17-year-old Hoërskool Bastion pupil R200 to perform oral sex on him. He originally was charged with nine offences pertaining to the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 32 of 2007. Krugersdorp news reported in January that a further five charges were laid against him, leading him to admit in court that he got “unusual sexual urges”. Underage witnesses testified in camera in January and in August the suspect pleaded not guilty to all 14 charges.

It is understood that the state appointed an IT expert to examine email communications he presented as an alibi only after his bail application. Preliminary dates for his trial were set at 16, 17 and 18 February next year.
