Update: Armed robbers hit Cash Crusaders in Horizon View

Employees and customer locked up.

The Cash Crusaders store in the Village@Horizon centre fell prey to an armed robbery at approximately 10.30 this morning 24 October.

Four suspects armed with handguns grabbed the car guard outside and forced him into the store, says Jason Holdstock of EC Security Service, the company guarding the common areas at the centre.

The suspects then gathered electronic appliances of an undisclosed value, and locked up five employees and one customer in a back room. In their bid to escape one suspect dropped a vital piece of evidence, which Holdstock says more than likely will lead to a quick arrest.

Holdstock praises Roodepoort Police’s quick response and the pro-active way in which they are dealing with the incident.

The four suspects fled in a white Ford Bantam bakkie and by the time of going to press they were still at large.

No one from Cash Crusaders was available for comment since the store was locked while police was questioning the victims.
