Victory House visits Roodepoort’s gem

Several pupils visited the magnificent site for the first time.

The Grade 10 Victory House Life Science pupils spent a day at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden to complete an environmental studies project.

Several pupils visited this magnificent site for the first time and a sigh of awe and wonder was heard as they stepped off the bus.

The garden has gone to great lengths to prepare the site for schools to visit and explore as part of their fourth term projects in which they had to identify elements of an ecosystem. The guides were excellent in guiding the pupils through specific sites and identifying various fauna and flora.

The day was rounded off with a viewing of the waterfall, duck pond and other parts of the garden. The ecosystem the pupils are learning about at school visibly came to life as they explored the garden.

“Staff of Victory House and the Grade 10 Life Science pupils thank the staff at the Botanical Garden for making the day so unique and memorable, and encourage the community also to discover this gem on our doorstep,” says Bernice Harington-Fuller, Life Science teacher at Victory House.
