Beware of bogus Rand Water learnership advert

JOBURG – Rand Water has warned against a bogus learnership advert that is being circulated via social media.

After a bogus employment advert made the rounds on social media and via SMS, Rand Water has warned that the advertised Water Reticulation Learnership intake is fake.

“Rand Water does not advertise on social media,” said the water utility’s media liaison Justice Mohale.

Mohale said, “Rand Water vacancies are placed on our website and the print media, whenever they become available”.

He said Rand Water does not intend to pursue this matter criminally, due to the dynamic and interactive nature of social media.

“What we would like to do is to make the public aware of the fact that this advertisement is not authentic and was not generated by Rand Water,” he said.

The following is mentioned in the fake circulating advert:

Rand Water is looking for:

  • 44 unemployed people under the age of 25
  • Benefits: Medical aid etc
  • Requirements: Grade 12 with Maths
