Clover mamas celebrate in style

For the Clover Mama Afrikas, the visit was a memorable experience and one that will inspire them and make them appreciate their own premises.

Clover Mama Afrika celebrated a decade of change.

Passion, commitment and an abundance of pride barely describe how Clover manager of corporate services, Professor Elain Vlok felt during the Celebrating a decade of Change event at Clover head office in Weltevreden Park recently.

Nine Clover Mama Afrikas dressed in their own ‘designer’ dresses made during the week at Bernina were joined by Vlok and her team to hand out a “We care a square at a time” pack to fellow Clover colleagues arriving for work.

They all received numerous compliments from passing commuters. Each colleague received a pack of two fabrics, which they make into a quilt square. The mamas will decorate the quilt squares and put them together to make up quilts to be sold. All proceeds will go towards the Clover Mama Afrika project.

“We see the project as a quilt, many patches, many pieces, many colours and many sizes of all women and held together by a common thread. These squares will help us tell the story of how our head office staff care one square at time and continue to support this amazing quilt,” says Vlok.

The Clover Mama Afrika 10th birthday celebrations ended on a high note when the Clover Mama Afrika team and the mamas went to visit a potential Clover Mama in Tembisa.

Mirriam Mataku of Sipho and Mary’s Bakery is an inspiration how she manages a very productive bakery with the bare necessities.

“I decided to bring our Clover Mama Afrikas to see how Mirriam and her staff work with so little but produce so many-consistent quality products, using every bit of space on her small premises,” says Vlok.
