Robbers hop skip and jump to avoid police

Allens Nek - Two house-robbery suspects were arrested by Honeydew police and one is still at large.

A joint effort between Honeydew Police, Beagle Watch Security and ADT security led to the successful arrest of two alleged criminals who seem to have been on a crime spree.
Families in Allen’s Nek were left traumatised after criminals were found in their homes.

A domestic worker who works for one of the families affected explained that she was busy with the laundry when she heard a gunshot.

“As I rushed into the house, I saw a man with a red T-shirt and jeans jumping over our wall and I immediately pressed the alarm,” the domestic worker retold.

She added that the man crossed the street and jumped over the wall of the house opposite her employer’s.

Shortly after, ADT arrived and started searching the yard.

A man was found hiding in the garden corner at the said home. “But that is not the man I saw jumping over our wall as he (the man she saw initially) was wearing a red T-shirt,” explained the domestic worker.
Across the street, Tebogo Sejane said he was with their gardener when they saw a stranger walking in their yard.

“He looked very tired as he was breathing very heavily,” Sejane reported.

He said the man didn’t greet them or anything and as they were surprised with what was happening, he jumped over the wall to their neighbour’s yard.

“We pressed an alarm and Beagle Watch was here within minutes,” said Sejane. The man was arrested at the other neighbour’s house.

It is alleged that the two men arrested had just committed a house break-in in Wilgeheuwel before making their way to Allen’s Nek.

It is also alleged that they were using a white Toyota Quantum with an unknown registration number at this point.

The third suspect is still at large and police are still looking for him.

Mickey Katz, one of the home owners at the affected homes, commended the security companies for their quick response and apprehending the suspects.

She said she was still shocked that the criminal managed to jump over the high wall at her home.

“We just extended our wall higher and never thought anyone could climb over that easily.”
