Girl Guides raising funds for Switzerland trip

Girl Guides from the West Rand working to raise funds for a trip to represent South Africa in Switzerland.

Eight girl guides from the West Rand hope to represent South Africa in Swizerland come New Year 2015.

These girls who form part of the first and third Krugersdorp Rangers have been working hard to realise their dream of spending New Year 2015 at the Girl Guides’ Our Chalet in Adelboden, Switzerland.

Our Chalet is one of five world houses owned and run by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (Wagggs). It has been hosting guides and scouts since 1932.

“The Rangers have been raising funds by hosting various events including craft mornings, quiz evenings and tea parties,” says Petra Esterhuizen, a Gauteng West guider.

“They also have been selling coffee, biscuits and bacon rolls at voting stations on Election Day, selling jumble and raffle tickets and organising and catering a Lumo Disco and Sleep-a-thon.

“More exciting fundraising events have been planned for the coming months in order to reach their target.”

Should they reach their target, the enthusiastic Krugersdorp Rangers of Gauteng West will be joined by two Port Shepstone Rangers of KwaZulu-Natal to proudly represent South Africa at the international venue.

Their next fundraising is on Saturday 4 October at the Key West Guide Hall in Krugersdorp. To get involved in sponsoring the Rangers, contact Liz Paterson on 083 653 4226.
