Another armed robbery

STRUBEN'S VALLEY – A restaurant manager was injured, after five pretend patrons robbed the restaurant.

As armed robberies continue around shopping centres, restaurants in Struben’s Valley have seemingly also become targets.

According to employees at Pizza Perfect and Burger Perfect at Struben’s Valley Shopping Centre, five armed men entered the restaurant and pretended to be customers on 18 September.

“We had just opened the store, it was just after 9am when three men entered the shop with some money on their hands,” explained an employee who wished to remain anonymous.

She said as she was trying to assist, one of the men who pretended to be customers told her it is actually a robbery.

“I thought he was joking. As I was trying to make sense of what he was saying, they already had guns out and ordered us to give them money in the tills,” she relayed.

Then two other armed men joined the three who were already in the store.

The restaurant manager was left injured by the men, who allegedly hit him on the head with their guns when they were ordering him to open the safe.

The robbers managed flee the scene with an unknown amount of cash.

“I believe they were a bigger group because after the robbery at the shop, they called someone to come pick them up.”

The restaurant staff could not see the type of car they used to getaway.

Honeydew Police are still to comment on the matter.
