Taxis back to obstruct business

Makeshift taxi rank abandoned for a mere three weeks.

Taxis that previously have made headlines by illegally using an embankment as a makeshift rank are back again.

On embankments at the corner of Ontdekkers Road and Crane Avenue taxis once again are seen parked and being washed. Residents and business owners in the area have complained about the makeshift taxi rank in late August, with some reverting back to the record that the issue has been resolved and taxis have abandoned the corner. However, after a mere three weeks, the taxis have returned.

Earlier it was noted that some of the taxis belong to the Dobsonville Roodepoort Leratong Johannesburg Taxi Association (Dorljota).

Numerous attempts have been made to get comment from the association by phoning the Dorljota office number and that of spokesperson Zeblon Simelane, who previously has committed to giving feedback. Dorljota also has been sent a written request for comment on Thursday 18 September with 48 hours to respond.
