City Power meter reading programme

JOBURG – City Power will soon be deploying meter readers across the city.

City Power has embarked on a programme to read and audit meter readings in selected areas in and around the City of Johannesburg.

As part of this initiative, the utility will be sending meter reading contractors to read the meters.

City Power spokesman Sol Masolo said, “We therefore request residents to allow our meter readers to enter their properties to do this task.”

The City Power meter readers can be identified by their City Power branded uniforms.

They will also have a City Power access card, with a picture of the individual carrying the card, name and surname and an employee staff number as well as the anonymous tip-off number, 080 000 2587 and the Security Risk Management control room numbers, 011 490 7900 or 011 490 7911 or 011 490 7553 on the back of the card.

“City Power urges both businesses and residents not to open their properties to any individual who does not have the proper identification,” added Masolo.
