Blain Rademeyer on track

Rademeyer was awarded the National Championship Rookie of the Year trophy for 2013.

At only 11 years old, Blaine Rademeyer has become a champ in one sport most children his age don’t even consider participating in.
The Constantia Kloof Primary School pupil and Florida resident is a go-kart champion who has won competitions locally and competed in major international Karting events for South Africa.
In Blaine’s first year in karting he competed in three Gauteng junior races and managed to finish all of them in first place. However, the Gauteng Junior Class was not well represented and because of a lack of interest, he moved to the Mini Rok class.
At nine years old, Blaine competed in Mini Rok regionals for the first time and finished in a commendable tenth place overall for the season. He also competed in Rand Club races, achieved four podium finishes and was the overall winner of the Rand Kart Championships for 2012.
Blaine’s second year in the Mini Rok class and first year competing in the National Championships was in 2013. As one of the youngest drivers in a class of 23, Blaine challenged and competed consistently with the top three older and more experienced karters in the Mini Rok class. After missing the first round of the Northern Regions Championships for the 2013 season, Blaine had consistent top five finishes and ended in fourth position overall in the National and Regional championship.
As a result of his National Karting achievements in 2013, Blaine was offered a wild card entry to compete in the International World Finals at the South Garda Track, in Lenato, Italy in October 2013.
Blaine was the fastest South African driver, the fifth fastest competitor in the qualifying rounds in a class of 76 competitors from all around the world, and one of five drivers to qualify in under 50 seconds. Unfortunately he was involved in a five-kart crash on the last corner in the semi-final, and was unable to go through to the final round.
Blaine also competed in the Commemorative Len Talken Race Challenge in December of 2013, where he received an overall second place podium finish.
Although the 2014 Regional and National Karting championships are still underway, his achievements and podium finishes thus far, have earned him a qualified entry to race in the 2014 World Finals in Lenato, Italy. The event takes place in October, where he will be battling it out on track for the World Title, not only for himself, but also for South Africa. Competing in this event is also a step towards Blaine achieving his South African Springbok colours.
Two weeks ago, Blaine participated in the Prestigious Rotax African Open Max Challenge 2014.
