Electrical failure to affect water supply

More areas might be affected.

Although Witpoortjie residents have been experiencing water supply problems for a while, Joburg Water released a statement only today (15 September) via twitter.

The service entity has said that due to electrical problems on Eskom’s side Rand Water’s Eikenhof pump station is unable to operate. This affects Weltevreden Park, Honeydew, Randpark Ridge, Radiokop and Witpoortjie. The Eikenhof pump station delivers water to the reservoirs serving these areas, among other. It is feared that more areas will be affected.

Joburg Water could not be reached for comment and at this stage there is no time frame available as to how long it will take to rectify the situation.

  6. Last Monday no water for almost 12 hours. Now today, sunday 21 September, water pressure very weak does this mean we are AGAIN going to be without water. Why does municipality not notify residents, we pay our rates and taxes yet are treated so dismissively. Not happy with the situation.
