The councillor made the challenge and the record rose to the occasion.
The record team consisting of six volunteers were chilled to the bone after being nominated by Councillor Gert Niemand in the currently trending ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Editor Tihan van der Walt, journalist Riaan van Zyl, graphic artist Craig Michaels, subeditor Lorraine Brown and digital manager Sonette Reid were the unlucky ones to walk away dripping wet and icy cold.
The Veranderde Lewens Gemeente, Hoërskool Roodepoort, Getit magazine Johannesburg West and the Krugersdorp news were nominated to take up the challenge.
