Theatre celebrates dancing this September
Don't miss the annual Roodepoort Dance Festival at the Roodepoort Theatre this September.
This year’s Roodepoort Dance Festival is not to be missed.
“The annual Dance Festival will return again to the Roodepoort Theatre to showcase various forms of art,” says Nevolan Reddy, theatre spokesperson.
“It has a long prestigious history and has been staged here for several years since its inception.”
Between 5 and 11 September various dance routines will be performed, with 5 and 6 September set aside especially for ballet performances. From 8 September tap, modern dance and hip-hop showcases are on the programme.
“Dancers of all ages participate and there will be afternoon and evening sessions.”
Friday 12 September is the prestige evening when winners of the week before will be asked to return to showcase their winning routines. Each will be presented a trophy.
Tickets for the annual festival are available at R30 per person and only at the Roodepoort Theatre’s box office on the day of the performances. There are two shows daily at 1.30pm and 6.30pm. However, tickets for the prestige evening are available at R100 per person from Computicket. The prestige performances start at 7pm.
