Councillor’s health will not compromise duties

Seizures attributed to stress.

Councillor Carl Mann of Ward 85 recently suffered mysterious seizures but he says it will not affect his duties to his constituents.

Early in August Mann suffered violent seizures, which had the doctors scratching their heads. He subsequently spent three weeks in the Netcare Olivedale Clinic.

“In the end they attributed it to stress,” says Mann and laughingly adds that it was the election’s fault.

Doctors instructed him not to drive his vehicle for the next six months, so he says others will take him where he needs to be. In the meanwhile he will use the time to address other stubborn issues that do not require travelling as much as he had for example to address the billing crisis.

One of the issues that will have to be addressed is MMC for Housing Dan Bovu’s revelation to the community of Princess informal settlement at a meeting recently. Bovu allegedly told the already volatile community that the contract for the housing development adjacent to the settlement has been granted to an American construction company. The community now fears that outside labour will be used and that they will miss out on an employment opportunity.
