Accident victims honoured by planting a tree

Employer and colleagues honour the victims of a bus accident by planting a tree.

A remembrance service was held recently to pay tribute to three employees who tragically lost their lives in a bus accident in the Western Cape last year. The service was held by their former employer Tractionel Enterprise in Roodepoort on Tuesday 19 August. Head office staff attended the service as well as Shane Crouse, an employee who survived the accident but was left paralysed.

Three men died when the bus they were travelling in went over an embankment in the Katbakkies Pass in the Cederberg in the Western Cape. They were on their way to Langebaan to complete a project.

During the proceedings a fever tree (Vachellia xanthophloea) was planted on the business premises in loving memory of Oscar Foster, Javers Nziyana and Katlego Nodoba. This tree is native to southern and eastern Africa and usually grows in swampy areas.

Commercial director Coenraad Boshoff paid tribute to the deceased during the ceremony and lauded Crouse for his courageous recovery and positive attitude towards life.
