Westview Clinic hosts urgent briefing session

An urgent public meeting is to be held to discuss residents' concerns over possible new halfway house.

Westview Clinic invites Florida residents to an urgent briefing session on Thursday 28 August.

The briefing session and following discussion is in regards to proposed plans to establish a Westview Clinic halfway house facility in The Highway Street in Florida, said Freda Steenkamp, acting director.

“This will be an opportunity for us to discuss the possibility of establishing this service to the community within the area,” Steenkamp said.

“At this time we will also clarify the function of such a facility and its benefits and intrinsic purpose of such a halfway house to reintegrate professional people in society after completing a primary care program.”

Steenkamp is concerned that residents might have false impressions of their plans following rumours circulating in the neighbourhood.

“Furthermore, it will allow us to address any queries, questions, concerns or any possible objections to this endeavour.”

The open public meeting will be held at the Westview Clinic headquarters at 9 Madeline Street, Florida, from 6 pm on Thursday. Secured parking will be provided opposite Alf’s Stationary for the duration of the meeting, Steenkamp said.
