Roodepoort SAPS celebrates Women’s Day

Fairer sex shows they can do it as well as their male counterparts.

To celebrate Women’s Day and August being Women’s Month, the Roodepoort SAPS held various roadblocks manned by mainly woman around Roodepoort.

On 12 August approximately 20 female officers supported by a handful of male officers and the Roodepoort SAPS Women’s Network, held a roadblock on Miles Stoker Road in Durban Deep.

According to police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Kumahlo the aim of the roadblock was to increase visibility and make the public aware of various issues ranging from HIV to relationships. Female condoms were also handed out.

“It is also a lovely opportunity for the ladies to spend some time outside of the office,” joked Kumahlo.
