Fips: What are the benefits?

The Financial Institutions Pensioner's Society (Fips) has retired Roodepoorters' best interest at heart.

For those local pensioners who might be wondering what they would gain from joining the Financial Institutions Pensioner’s Society (Fips), chairman Manna Fourie provided a full list.

Fips aims to assist pensioners who retired from the financial sector to keep in touch with their former colleagues and friends by attending organised social events and friendly gatherings. Monthly meetings are held during which other more serious matters are discussed – the hardships among pensioners, their needs, their interests in the financial sector and their standing value to it. Joining Fips will mean that a new member will get a free monthly Sasbo News publication. Fips members get 30 free minutes of legal advice from Europ Assist as well as a toll-free call line with BankMed. Access is given to members to a benevolent fund in case of financial hardship, once a motivated case is submitted. Fourie said Pensure short-term insurance came to the table with competitive rates and are geared to pensioners’ needs.

Each member also has access to reduced premiums on funeral policies from Avbob. Special holiday packages can be organised through Forever Resorts, Travel Associates and MSC Starlight Cruises.

“The benefits are abundant and we always look at going the extra mile for our members,” said Fourie.
