The Silverstar big reveal

RUIMSIG – With less than two months till the upgrades at Silverstar Casino come to an end, Director of Operations and Complex General Manager Shane Collinson  gives a sneak preview on what to expect. The R560-million upgrade that started last year is nearing completion with an expectation of being finalised by September.

“We will have four new restaurants surrounding the outdoor square,” explains Collinson.

Calisto’s It’s more than a restaurant, it’s an experience. One of a kind. Totally different. It explodes with vitality. It erupts with fun. And the food hints the pinnacle of Portuguese perfection: superb seafood; incomparable prawns, individual or by the kilo or half kilo; crayfish up to Jurassic Park proportions; oysters; bacalhau. Also, full flavored Portuguese steaks; distinguished desserts and nine variations of coffee, including Mississippi Mud. High octane cocktail menu.

Col’Cacchio Pizzeria is all about experiencing Italian inspired food at its best. It offers the full sit down menu range – with over 50 different combinations of thin based gourmet pizzas and an impressive variety of freshly prepared salads and pastas.

Vigour & Verve is a funky Afro urban coffee shop with breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings. This trendy new café offers guests wholesome meals in a modern and organic environment. The menu and décor combination offers guests nutritious satisfaction in a feel-good environment.

Kai Thai Experience the sublime taste that is Thailand at Kai Thai Restaurant. Kai Thai uses fresh ingredients and dishes are prepared just before serving to ensure their nutritional value and crisp, fresh tastes are retained.

New restaurant inside the complex:

Spur is a steakhouse, franchise and restaurant with a variety of menu offerings. Its menu mainly features beef burgers, steaks and ribs, but also includes salads, chicken, seafood and vegetarian options. The restaurant also sells a range of sauces and other condiments under its own brand.

Fast-food outlets inside the complex:

“Come end September visitors will be able to experience fast food outlets such as Raj, Steers, Mi-Vami and Noodle Bar. These restaurants will be located opposite the entertainment zone and will have one centralised seating area on a mezzanine level,” says Steyn.

Publicity

Publicity is an exciting new brew pub restaurant located next to the big outdoor screen. This unique family dining spot is built over two levels and consists of a beer garden with craft beer and an outdoor family venue offering casual family dining.

Parker & Jive

Parker’s Comedy & Jive is the only permanent stand-up comedy club on the African continent and the home of quality South African and International Comedy.

The venue, purpose-built to showcase the art of stand-up comedy, features the best in local and international comedians from Thursday to Saturday each week, giving audiences the opportunity to see SA’s finest up against top-quality comics from the UK and the USA.

The entertainment zone inside the complex:

The entertainment zone will feature The Magic Company with an addictively-fun token games area, family favourite ten-pin bowling and an epic laser tag facility.

Ten-pin bowling alley is incredibly fun and eye catching, featuring bright neon-coloured walls and bowling balls, disco lights and upbeat music playing in the background. It also includes 12 individual bowling lanes as well as alley barriers for un-experienced newbies.

Laser tag

Taking up four floors and covering approximately 450 square metres, is the laser tag facility for the more adventurous. Hosting smoke machines, glow in the dark paint on the walls and lasers flashing in every direction, it really is the perfect venue for themed birthday parties or just a fun-filled day out with friends.
