Three suspects believed to be part of a dagga distribution network operating on the West Rand were arrested on Tuesday (8 July), according to Hawks spokesperson Paul Ramaloko.

The suspects, two women aged 38 and 36, and a man, 32, were caught driving on Main Reef Road with large bags of dagga worth an estimated R500 000 in their vehicle. The dagga weighed 14kg in total.

The bags had name tags, believed to be that of the recipients. It is suspected that the three suspects are part of a syndicate distributing dagga from Swaziland to South Africa.

The three suspects will appear in the Jeppe Magistrates’ Court soon.
