Jeep stolen by brazen crooks

An extreme case of window shopping

A brand-new Jeep was stolen at 9am on Friday (4 July) from Joseph Lister Street opposite Life Flora Clinic.

The Jeep had been off-loaded from an auto-transport truck, says Captain Lydia Dikolomela of the Florida SAPS. After the truck driver had unloaded the second-to-last Jeep he was approached by two assailants. They asked the driver for the Jeep’s keys, and he told them he had left them in the Jeep after reversing off the truck. One then drove off in the Jeep while the other escaped in their Lexus. None of the eyewitnesses could provide the Lexus’ registration number. No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.

Barrett Smith, Sales Manager at Jeep Sandown Motors Constantia Kloof says the Jeep was meant to be taken to Wonderboom. To his knowledge the men were unarmed. While he was sympathetic, he felt that the truck driver was careless when he left the keys in the ignition.
