Francois fuelled for Rhino Walk

Francois Myburgh ready to take on a 100km walk against rhino poaching.

With a refreshment sponsorship Francois Myburgh (24) is ready for the long road.

Myburgh will commence his 100km Rhino Walk on 8 July at 4am. The aim of Myburgh’s walk is to raise awareness about rhino poaching. On Monday afternoon (7 July) Pick n Pay Witpoortjie owners Luigi Cocomello and Steve Temkin sponsored him with drinks and food for the road.

“We gave him free reign in deciding what liquids and foods will be best for his journey,” says Temkin.

“He chose energy drinks and energy snack bars and lots of fruit, among other things.”

Cocomello and Temkin are very impressed with Myburgh’s persistence in taking on this walk alone, they say.

“Hopefully by his example, other people will follow suit and join him next year,” says Temkin.

The owners say Pick n Pay as a group is very interested and active in projects for the protection of South African rhinos.
