More furry friends to adopt at the Roodepoort SPCA

ROODEPOORT - Furry friends of different breeds and sizes are available for adoption from the SPCA.

With winter in full swing the Roodepoort SPCA urges owners to take extra care to ensure that their pets are warm at all times.

Roodepoort SPCA manager Mandi Cattanach pointed out that if owners are unable to look after their pets they should consider dropping them off at the SPCA. She explained that if owners are unable to look after their pets they should not just drop them off on a street corner and hope that someone else will pick them up. “People needn’t be afraid or scared of bringing in their unwanted animals.”

Adoption is an easy process as you merely need to sign over the animal to the organisation by completing a form and it will immediately be available for adoption.

She also added that people who want to adopt prospective pets can also visit the organisation on Saturdays and take a look at the large selection of animals that are currently available at the organisation.

“This week we have animals that range from small Chihuahuas to large German Shepherds, so people can pop in and bring along their own dogs to see if they will be compatible with the prospective pets that they want to adopt from the SPCA.”

Before an animal is adopted from the SPCA, a pre-home inspection is conducted, and vaccinations, deworming and sterilisations are compulsory and included in the fee asked by the SPCA.
