Bella Swan Project makes farewell dreams come true

Get involved to put smiles on less fortunate matriculants' faces.

Meet the Bella Swan Project’s dream team, a group of women dedicated to making less privileged matriculants’ farewell dreams come true.

The Bella Swan Project was born when Heidi Grobelny noticed the financial constraints on some girls in their matric year as the matric farewell drew closer. The project plans on providing selected matriculants with clothing, jewellery, shoes and everything else needed for the perfect farewell.

“At first we thought about helping out the girls exclusively, and then we realised that the same hardship applies to some boys,” Lizette Greyling says.

The project was initiated this year and the women held a meeting last Wednesday (25 June). Greyling and Grobelny hope to gain the support of residents.

Backing them up is a group of women dedicating their time to donation, administration and clothing, and they would love some extra help. Miss Teen Queen of the Universe, Sasha Taylor and her mother Kim recently came on board.

“Help, whether it’s in the form of time, skills, contacts, clothing or monetary donations are very welcome,” says Greyling.

“We want to give every matriculant who is caught up in a negative financial situation the experience of their senior dream,” concludes Terri Booysen.
