RUIMSIG - The Gateway Society will hold an official launch for the new 24 -unit residence for the elderly in July.

The Gateway Society will host an official handover of the newly-built extension home for the elderly at the Gateway Village in Ruimsig on 1 July.

According to the Gateway Society fundraising manager Chanelle Bekker, the project costs R3.2 million.

“The new home will open 24 residential units at once. We previously had seven homes with six rooms sharing. The other building is a high-care centre for people with limited mobility,” said Bekker.

She added that the handover will start at 3.30pm at the village.

“Among the invited guest will be the sponsors and donors who contributed toward the construction of this home for the elderly,”she added. Bekker also mentioned that there will be another fundraising event on 16 July – a ladies breakfast also aimed at raising more funds toward the village.

She said the cost per ticket will be R100 per person and R650 for a table for eight people.

“The breakfast will include a continental breakfast, a goodie bag and stunning prizes,” said Bekker.
