A new super-size bookshop for book lovers

ROODEPOORT - The new SPCA second-hand bookshop is open for business, with a variety of books available from as little as R1.

Bookworms in Roodepoort might rejoice when they learn that the Roodepoort SPCA has opened a second-hand bookshop of enormous size and collection.

Bookshop manager Mark Taylor said he was extremely surprised and excited when the organisation informed him that space has opened up at the SPCA for a bookshop.

“We have been blessed enough to receive this large space that [can accommodate] thousands of books.”

The store will be larger than an average second-hand bookshop, allowing an even wider variety of books to choose from.

“We have thousands of fiction and non-fiction books to cooking books and even books for toddlers.”

Taylor said the prices vary, with some books selling for as little as R1.

Donations are what keeps organisations like the SPCA going and the bookshop also needs books in order to keep selling.

“People who have old books that are laying around can feel free to come and drop them off at the bookshop which is located inside the SPCA’s premises on Nadine Street in Maraisburg. If bookworms are on the lookout for a specific book they can feel free to contact me and I will see if we have it available for them.”

The bookshop is open from Mondays to Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
