Florida resident, Sampie Mathebula aged 35 has been reported missing since 7 June.
According to his work colleague, Tonderai Chikono, Mathebula was dressed in a black hemisphere jacket, blue jeans and brown shoes when he left home at around 3pm, driving a silver Polo. “His car registration number is CF14LX GP. He was working for a non-governmental organisation in Witpoortjie called Humana people to people. “He left home in Florida around 3pm and told his wife Nomalungelo Lamula that he was going to see a friend in Soweto,” said Chikono.
Lamula explained, “I sent him a message on Whatsapp at about 6pm and I received a response saying, ‘yes Love’. After 10 minutes I tried to call him and the phone was off until today.”
She said she checked with his family on Sunday morning and they did not know his whereabouts. “I reported the matter to the Florida police and opened a case,” she added.
Florida Police Station spokesperson Lydia Mtila Dikolomela confirmed that a case has been opened and is under investigation.
